Chief Peter Ameh Formally Joins NDC, Vows to Help Rescue Nigeria from Hardship

Former presidential candidate and ex-National Chairman of the Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA), Peter Ameh, has formally announced his decision to join the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), pledging to work with progressive Nigerians to build a stronger democratic alternative capable of addressing the country’s worsening economic and social challenges.In a statement released on Friday, Ameh said his decision was driven by the urgent need to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic development and support efforts aimed at restoring hope among citizens facing economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and uncertainty.The former Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) chairman, who also contested the 2019 presidential election, noted that his political journey has always been guided by integrity, internal democracy, inclusion, and genuine service to the people.
According to him, Nigeria is currently passing through one of its most difficult periods, with many citizens struggling daily due to what he described as a lack of focus and inability by the current administration to adequately tackle the nation’s challenges.“At a time like this, patriotic Nigerians and progressive political forces must come together to build a stronger and credible democratic alternative capable of restoring hope and confidence among our people,” he stated.Ameh said his decision to identify with the NDC was based on his conviction that the party offers a platform for constructive engagement, credible leadership, people-oriented governance, and accelerated national development.He further expressed support for leadership built on accountability, prudence, compassion, and commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians, adding that democratic institutions and political leaders must work together in the interest of national unity, stability, and progress.

The former PPA chairman also referenced the growing support for Peter Obi, saying the former Labour Party presidential candidate represents hope and good leadership for millions of Nigerians seeking positive change.Ameh concluded by formally requesting acceptance into the NDC, while expressing readiness to work with party leaders and members toward strengthening democracy and advancing the collective interests of Nigerians.
