Oyebanji Well Positioned for 2026 Victory, Senate Leader Says

The Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, has expressed strong optimism over the chances of Biodun Oyebanji securing a second term in office ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
Bamidele, who spoke during a political gathering attended by party leaders, stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters in the state, said Governor Oyebanji had demonstrated commitment to governance, infrastructural development, and inclusive leadership since assuming office.
According to the Senate leader, the governor’s performance across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and workers’ welfare has continued to earn him widespread acceptance among residents of the state.

He noted that the administration’s approach to governance has helped strengthen public confidence in government and positioned the ruling party favorably ahead of the next election cycle.
Bamidele stated that many communities across the state had benefited from ongoing road projects, empowerment programmes, and investments aimed at improving economic opportunities for young people and local businesses.
The Senate leader further praised Governor Oyebanji for maintaining cordial relationships with political leaders across party lines, describing him as a bridge-builder whose leadership style has promoted peace and political stability in the state.
He urged members of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti to remain united and continue supporting the governor’s administration to sustain the pace of development recorded in the state.
“Governor Oyebanji has shown dedication to the people through purposeful leadership and people-oriented programmes. The level of support he enjoys across the state today is a reflection of public confidence in his administration,” Bamidele reportedly said.
In his response, Governor Oyebanji appreciated party leaders and supporters for their continued trust and encouragement, assuring residents that his administration would remain focused on delivering democratic dividends.
The governor reiterated his commitment to policies aimed at improving living standards, attracting investments, and expanding economic opportunities across the state.
Political observers believe the endorsement by the Senate leader could further strengthen Oyebanji’s standing within the ruling party as political consultations gradually intensify ahead of the 2026 governorship contest.
The political atmosphere in Ekiti has recently witnessed increased activities among stakeholders and interest groups, with discussions already centering on alliances, continuity, and the future direction of governance in the state.
Analysts say the coming months are expected to shape the political landscape further as parties begin strategic preparations for the election season.
