Wike: I Will Seal Any FCT Building Allowing Turaki Faction To Sell PDP Forms 

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to property owners in Abuja, threatening to seal off any building found hosting political activities linked to a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Ibrahim Turaki.

According to the minister, any premises used for meetings or the sale of nomination forms associated with the Turaki-led group risk being shut down by authorities in the FCT. The warning is seen as part of ongoing tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party, where internal divisions have intensified in recent months.

Wike’s directive underscores the growing friction between rival blocs within the party, particularly over control of party structures and legitimacy of parallel political activities. Sources suggest that the FCT administration is closely monitoring properties suspected of hosting such engagements, with enforcement measures expected to be swift.

The development has raised concerns among political observers about the implications for political freedom and the use of state authority in intra-party disputes, especially as the 2027 general elections draw closer.

As of the time of reporting, representatives of the Turaki-led faction have yet to issue an official response to the threat.

Wike speaking at a media parley on Wednesday, he declared that former Senate President Adolphus Wabara is no longer a member of the PDP, while affirming Abdulrahman as the current chairman of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

He issued a direct challenge to Senator Tanimu Turaki (SAN), daring him to open an account for the sale of PDP nomination forms, warning that such an attempt would have professional and legal consequences.

“Adolphus Wabara is no longer in the PDP; Abdulrahman is the current chairman of the PDP National Working Committee. I challenge Turaki, SAN, to open an account for the sale of PDP forms—his silk will be stripped,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister further warned that any bank that facilitates such an account would also face consequences, stressing that party financial transactions must comply with established legal requirements.

“Any bank that opens such an account will face consequences. Opening an account requires a certificate of incorporation, which is held by the party’s secretary,” he stated.

Wike also cautioned property owners in the Federal Capital Territory against allowing the faction to establish offices for the sale of PDP forms, describing such actions as aiding fraud and disregarding judicial authority.

“Any property owner in the FCT who allows Turaki and others to set up a PDP office for the sale of forms is facilitating fraud and defying a court judgment,” he warned.
